I was driving today down a four-lane road today that was divided by a median, at the back of a pack of seven or eight cars. An ambulance approached from the opposite direction, with the lights and sirens on. Those of us familiar with the rules of the road will note that you do not have to stop for an emergency vehicle if it is on the other side of a divided road. These people were obviously not familiar with said rules of said road, and we all came to a stop and waited for the ambulance to pass. No big deal. Anyway, we continued on, and about a minute later, maybe half a mile down the road, the firetruck that was paired with the ambulance came by the other way, also with lights and sirens on. The difference was, the median was now gone, and there was but a stripe separating us from the fire engine. So what did this same group of drivers do? Yup, they continued driving like the fire truck didn't exist.
I must've missed the date for opposite day this year.

As long as that fish is a straight white Christian, it can do anything it wants.

I liked in the last TGUSA where they were talking about how in germany there were no people going slow in the left lane, if only america was like that, I would be fine with lower speed limits if there were less soccer moms on the road.

Interestingly in VA the actual statute does not have the undivided highway exemption. It states that when an emergency vehicle is approaching you must pull over and stop.
However, the official drivers manual issued by the DMV does state that it is only on an undivided highway.
Guy at work didn't pull over due to a median and got ticketed. He went in armed with the drivers handbook. Judge lowered it to some lower penalty that didn't have associated points but didn't throw out the whole thing.
The more you know.
